Michelle Aikman, NCRW is an innovative career management consultant, professional résumé writer, trainer, speaker, active-duty military spouse, and engineer.
Michelle launched Skilled Assets after first-hand experience successfully navigating the job market, re-entering the workforce after time away, executing major career changes, and attaining career advancement while pursuing a fulfilling engineering career as an active-duty military spouse.
She is on a mission to improve the hiring and advancement process for high-performing professionals. Through Skilled Assets, she draws upon her unique background in process improvement and risk management to provide innovative career strategy solutions for high-performing professionals and trailblazing corporate clients.
Michelle is an avid advocate for military spouses, transitioning military members, veterans, and stay-at-home parents. She specializes in proactive solutions for technical / specialty professionals, major career changers, and professionals with significant employment challenges such as gaps in paid employment or a string seemingly unrelated work experiences.
Navigating career changes, along with seeking and securing fulfilling employment, are complicated. In addition, the hiring process for most businesses is inefficient and often circumvented causing unnecessary waste and often the placement of candidates that are not the best fit. Michelle is committed to changing the way businesses recruit and hire which will ultimately create a more efficient process for companies and professionals.
She is one of only 38 writers worldwide to hold the prestigious Nationally Certified Résumé Writer certification and is a member of Career Thought Leaders, National Career Development Association, National Résumé Writers’ Association. She contributes to Military Spouse magazine and in 2012, Michelle became the recipient of a National Military Family Association Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship. She provided career expertise for Mothers & More and helped launch the Mothers Work Initiative. Michelle is a longtime member of the Society of Women Engineers and holds a MS in Engineering and Technology Management from Washington State University and a BS in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Public Affairs for Engineers from the Colorado School of Mines.
Michelle is involved in all aspects of the business. As the Lead Career Management Consultant, she works directly with select clients as an Advisor and Customized Brand Package (CBP) Consultant when she is not speaking, conducting training sessions, working with businesses, or consulting with advocacy organizations. She oversees all services so even when she is not working directly with clients, she ensures that all services are provided with the care and quality that clients expect and deserve.
